An "apostille" is a certificate issued by the Secretary of State for documents to be recognized abroad. Basically, what the apostille certification does is verify and authenticate the credential's of the Notary Public (who notarized the signature on the document) or it verifies and authenticates the original signature of the State or County official who signed and certified government document (such as a Birth Certificate or California Articles of Incorporation or Marriage Certificate).
